Walking Te Araroa South to North
My Journey on Te Araroa will not begin at the most popular starting point of Cape Reinga, the northern point of Aotearoa. This special place for Māori known as 'Te rerenga wairua', is where after we pass on our spirits travel here before departing to our final resting place. It is because of this kōrero that I feel it is important for me to finish the journey here rather than begin it.
However this meant that I would no be able to do the Whanganui river section of the trip, as that option is only available travelling north to south. This section is very special to me and I do not want to miss out on it. Therefore I have slightly altered my trip to accommodate for this section.
